Welcome to Green Sea Floyds Elementary School
Our school is located in the upper rural part of northern Horry County, eleven miles from the North Carolina state line. The school serves approximately 646 students in grades Pre-K through fifth grade. As a school that receives Title I funding, parents are encouraged to review and provide input into the school's Title I Plan. A copy of the plan is available in the library for review. We are proud to have many curricular offerings to our students: work stations in both ELA and Math, notebooking in Science and Social Studies, Everyday Math Curriculum, and a literacy program that builds on the five big ideas of literacy. These big ideas are phonemic awareness, phonics, vocabulary, comprehension, and fluency.
In addition, technology is a big part of our academic programs with a full-time computer lab teacher. We offer several computer software programs in our regular instruction: Compass Learning, Larson's Math, and Raz-Kids. The school also makes these computer programs available to the students at home. Students' academic progress is monitored throughout the year by MAP testing (grades 2-5), DIBELS (grades K-1), PALS-PreK (child development).
It is our goal to make sure that all students are reading on grade level by the end of second grade and write expressively at the end of fifth grade.
